The Rotary Club of Frankston Long Island has been running an alternative Schoolies program to Cambodia since 2010. They have now amalgamated with the Rotary Club of Frankston Peninsula 2.0, and this year will be once again running a trip which leaves on 26th November 2017 and returns on 10th December.
We take students who have graduated from Year 12 to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia where they work as volunteers, working on various projects that could be anything from building a classroom, teaching English, dental hygiene, gardening or whatever jobs are needed. They also see all of the cultural highlights such as the Genocide Museum & the Killing Fields where they learn about Pol Pot’s regime and gain an understanding of the recent history of this poor country. They also visit the ancient temples of Angkor in Siem Reap, enjoy the local cuisine and have a lot of fun.
It is a fantastic life changing experience and we would love to have you join us.
Our past volunteers have also found that volunteering in a developing country has helped them to reassess their future priorities and university preferences. Our references also look great in their CV’s.
This years Alternative Schoolies trip to Cambodia will depart late November - check facebook for updates.
