Frankston Toy Library

The Frankston Toy Library is one of Frankston’s key non-profit community service organisations. Operating since 1977, they are one of the largest toy libraries in Australia and overseas.

They loan an amazing range of toys and resources to families, local businesses, groups and schools. Their mission is to provide the community with quality resources that enable learning and development through play and positive engagement with others.

They also have a special needs section to provide toys and resources that assist children with issues such as deafness, blindness, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism. They have since discovered that this range of special needs items is one of the largest resource libraries of its kind in Victoria. Other toy libraries around the country are now following their lead.

The Frankston Toy Library has recently collaborated with local business Ash Marton Real Estate to create a community house. They intend to offer the venue to the local community so that an array of community groups and small local business have a place to meet, hold training and hold events. This venue has a couch, meeting table, event chairs, kitchen supplies and a brand new Sensory Room for children with disability.

Rotary Peninsula 2.0 have also recently partnered with the Frankston Toy Library, and the proceeds from the 2019 registrations from the Birth Tree and Family Garden will go towards equipment for this sensory room, as well as new, specifically designed developmental toys for the Frankston Toy Library. We hope to help increase the borrowing choices for these children in need, and help support this great community organisation.
